2022 Subaru WRX Revealed at LA Auto Show

Subaru has finally revealed the 2022 Subaru WRX. The high-performance sports rally sedan looked stunning as it appeared on stage. Subaru fans have been waiting expectantly for the next-generation Subaru WRX and it is finally here with a new redesign. Subaru had been teasing that the new Subaru WRX would come with a completely new look and structure. That seems to be the case as the interior looks notably different. The sports sedan also comes with the long-awaited continuously variable transmission (CVT) which Subaru has stated has been drastically enhanced. We’ll have to wait for more information to confirm the specifications but for now, the new 2022 Subaru WRX looks promising.

2022 Subaru WRX 

Subaru unveiled the 2022 Subaru WRX at the LA Auto Show. The high-performance rally sedan appeared to be uniquely different from past iterations. The next-generation Subaru came equipped with a new CVT engine pairing which Subaru stated had a significant amount of enhancements made to it. Apparently, the 2022 Subaru WRX is supposed to simulate shifts between gear ratios much faster. We’ll have to wait and see how the new pairing works with different power outputs but it does sound promising.

Inside the 2022 Subaru WRX, consumers will note a taller dashboard with stacked layers on the passenger side. Subaru promised the next-generation WRX would see a new redesign so the rally sedan features a unique center console. It appears to be similar to the Outback but it adds stitched padding where the driver’s knees would be. There are also reoriented cupholders and an 11.6-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are set to come standard however there is a small bug with Android phones where the Subaru restricts the landscape orientation. Subaru has set to resolve the issue as it had occurred previously with Apple CarPlay.

With the next-generation WRX, Subaru made the decision to pair add-ons from the WRX’s GT trim. This includes Recaro seats, adaptive shock absorbers, and high-performance summer tires. Unfortunately, this comes exclusively with an automatic transmission, but Subaru may make it available with a manual. The Subaru WRX is set to go on sale in early 2022. We’ll have to wait for more information including new about a potential WRX STI trim. For now, we’re excited to get to see the long-awaited 2022 Subaru WRX.
