Costumes for Kids

Norwin Holiday Helpers is a small group of neighbors who live in the Norwin area, who try to help families with financial difficulties with elementary-aged children during the holidays. We saw their social media post that they were looking for a business where they could put a collection box for Halloween costumes. We collected costumes at Kenny Ross Subaru during the month of October and then Norwin Holiday Helpers distributed them before Halloween at the Norwin Library. They had about 70 kids at their costume giveaway and each child was given a treat bag. Everything was donated by other organizations and businesses throughout our community.

Make a Dogs Day

Kenny Ross Subaru has partnered again with Cross Your Paws Pet Rescue to help support adoptable pets in our community through the Subaru Loves Pets initiative. We had beautiful weather for our Make A Dogs’ Day adoption event. Fosters from Cross Your Paws Pet Rescue brought some available dogs to meet potential adopters. Vendors were on hand with dog-themed items, including doggie treats, bandanas, and household items. Pet parents brought their costumed poochies to get their Howl-o-ween photos taken. To find out more about Cross Your Paws, please visit their website https://www.crossyourpaws.com/. Last year, approximately 6.5 million animals entered shelters in the US according to the ASPCA. Many of these animals live day after day without the love of a family or a home. Subaru and its retailers like us believe all pets deserve a loving home and that’s why we are the largest corporate donor to the ASPCA. #kennyrosssubaru #makeadogsday #subarulovespets #adoptdontshop #crossyourpaws #adoptanunderdog

Making a Difference for Students

We’re excited to share that Kenny Ross Subaru has made a significant investment in the education of our community’s youth through the Subaru Loves Learning initiative. In partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, we’ve adopted six classrooms at Francis McClure Elementary School in the McKeesport Area School District. This initiative allows us to provide dedicated teachers with the funding they need to purchase essential classroom supplies. By equipping these classrooms with resources like privacy dividers, instruments, laminators, science supplies, and whiteboards, we’re creating a stimulating and supportive learning environment for students. Recently, we had the opportunity to personally deliver additional school supplies to the adopted classrooms. The joy and gratitude on the faces of both students and teachers was truly heartwarming. It’s a reminder of the positive impact we can have on our community when we work together. We believe that every child deserves access to a quality education, and we’re proud to play a role in making that a reality. Thank you to AdoptAClassroom.org for their partnership in making this initiative possible. Together, we’re building a brighter future for our community.

Kenny Ross Subaru Rocks Out at Gig on Main!

Gig on Main is a fantastic event that brings our community together. Kenny Ross Subaru is proud to support this local tradition and contribute to the vibrant atmosphere of downtown Irwin. We had an absolute blast being the presenting sponsor of this annual event. Despite a little rain, the show went on, and the crowd was bigger than ever! This year’s lineup was incredible, featuring Justin Sellers, The Mazeroskis, and The Clarks. The Clarks, a local favorite since the 80s and 90s, drew a massive crowd eager to enjoy their free performance. We were able to give away some swag to the attendees and we even had the opportunity to go on stage and throw out some t-shirts to the excited crowd. It was an unforgettable experience!

Wags 'n Wine

Cross Your Paws Rescue is one of the Kenny Ross Subaru Love Promise organizations. We support their animal rescue efforts throughout the year, through fundraising and adoption events. Their Wags ‘n Wine fundraiser has been one of their most popular events for the last 4 years. The event included dinner and wine tasting as well as raffle baskets and a silent auction. There were some adoptable pups looking for their fur-ever homes. Several vendors were there as well. This year we gave away pet-friendly items to the attendees. Cross Your Paws is a 100% volunteer run foster-based rescue. They rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs of all ages, breeds, and medical needs. To find out more about how you can support CYP through fostering, adopting, or donating visit their website here: https://www.crossyourpaws.com/

Labor Day on the trail

Every Labor Day, the Westmoreland Yough Trail Chapter of the Great Allegheny Passage hosts their annual Poker Run. Registered participants could do the 4 mile walk or bike either a 12 mile or a 20 mile section of the trail. There were points along the trail where walkers/ bikers would stop to pick up a card for their poker hand. When they arrived at the end, their cards were tallied and then prizes were given for the best hand. Even the eldest walker and biker received a prize. Kenny Ross Subaru was there to pass out water and snacks to keep the attendees fueled to complete the event. This is just one of the fundraising opportunities that WYTC has throughout the year. They also sell bricks you can get engraved that are laid near the train station. And they also hold a bike raffle. Visit their website at bikewytc.org for more information. #wytc #kennyrosssubaru #subarulovestheearth #kennyrosscares

Dog Days of Summer

Kenny Ross Subaru went to the dogs! Through the Subaru Loves Pets initiative, Kenny Ross Subaru and Cross Your Paws have been partnering for several years to bring families and fur babies together. One of the highlights of our partnership was our recent Dog Days of Summer event. The turnout was incredible, and we were delighted to see so many people come out to support Cross Your Paws and meet some adorable adoptable dogs. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we were able to collect a generous amount of dog food donations for Cross Your Paws. This will help them continue to provide essential care for the dogs in their rescue. We also want to express our gratitude to the local businesses that joined us for the event: Puppy Paws Cafe, Walkers Pet Ho-tail, Helpful Hound Boutique, and Top Dog Therapy Team. Their participation added even more value to the day. Be sure to join us for our next event that will be held in October for Make a Dog’s Day. Cross Your Paws is a foster-based rescue dedicated to finding loving homes for dogs in need. Their dogs are cared for in foster homes, providing a nurturing environment and plenty of socialization. Many of these dogs are transported to Pennsylvania from Kentucky, where they receive the love and care they need before finding their forever homes. Want to make a difference? Here’s how you can support Cross Your Paws: Adopt a Dog: Give a deserving dog a loving home. Foster a Dog: Provide temporary care and love to a dog in need. Donate: Make a financial contribution to support their mission. Volunteer: Get involved with their volunteer programs and events. Let’s continue to support this amazing organization and help them find loving homes for more furry friends!

Back to School Bash

As part of the Subaru Loves Learning initiative in August, Kenny Ross Subaru hosted our first Back to School Bash to help parents get their students ready for school. It was such an amazing day filled with fun for everyone! We gave away over 100 backpacks to students in our community. There were 20+ businesses and organizations that participated by passing out school supplies to the students, donating items/ coupons, and even providing haircuts and music for the event. These kids filled their backpacks with notebooks, crayons, pens, glue, and so much more. Synergy Salon and Spa was the first group to sign on! The stylists volunteered their time to provide haircuts so these kids could go back to school in style. The students could play games to win more school supplies from Achieving True Self and Equity Preservation Services/Fight the Blight. Musicians from Practice Makes Perfect Music Studio showcased their talents for the evening. Kickin’ Korn Dogs and Donut NV were here with yummy food selections.

Another Junior Police Academy is in the books.

The sweltering heat made this week a unique experience for the cadets and the officers alike. Luckily, local fire departments were able to come to Oak Hollow Park almost every day to help cool the cadets by spraying them with water. This program has grown so much over the years that this year the North Huntingdon Police Department had their largest group with almost 60 registrations. The kids participated in several activities led by the officers including firearm safety, CPR/ first aid, defensive tactics, patrol operations, and crime scene investigations. The state police brought their helicopter and the kids had the opportunity to talk with the pilots about their job. Wednesday is everyone’s favorite day- it’s when they get to practice water safety and survival skills with the water rescue team on the Youghiogheny River. Kenny Ross Subaru is a proud sponsor of the Junior Police Academy. This weeklong event couldn’t happen without several community partners including restaurants and retail stores that provided lunches, snacks, and water for everyone. At the end of the week there was a graduation celebration and all the participants received certificates of their accomplishment. #KennyRossSubaru #KennyRossCares #NHTPD #JrPoliceAcademy

Spreading Warmth and Care

Kenny Ross Subaru is proud to continue its partnership with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through the Subaru Loves to Care initiative. This year, we were thrilled to deliver a warm embrace to patients at AHN Cancer Institute – Hempfield. Two carloads full of cozy blankets and thoughtful care packages made their way to the institute. It was an honor to personally deliver these items to some patients in the waiting areas and witness firsthand the impact of these simple acts of kindness. Pam Labuda, the AHN Cancer Institute Practice Manager, expressed the gratitude of the patients and staff. She shared, “The patients that received the care packages have loved them and expressed their appreciation of this program.” We couldn’t be happier to hear such positive feedback. Each care package was filled with items designed to provide comfort during treatment, including cozy socks, engaging coloring books, and refreshing water bottles. Our hope is that these small gestures help to brighten patients’ days and provide a moment of respite. Kenny Ross Subaru is committed to supporting our community, and we are honored to partner with AHN Cancer Institute – Hempfield. We look forward to continuing this meaningful partnership in the future.

Outstanding Back to School Event!

Achieving True Self really enjoyed being a part of Kenny Ross Subaru's Back to School Bash on August 5, 2024. This first-time gathering was so well-executed by Nicole Hayes and her teammates at the dealership. The sales area was filled with stylists and families for free haircuts, and other families receiving backpacks, school supplies, playing games, or having yummy snacks at two food trucks. Our team offered a duck pond and a "Plinko" game. It was sweltering hot, but the bash was super cool! We would absolutely partner with Kenny Ross Subaru on a future event. GREAT JOB, EVERYONE!

Kenny Ross Subaru steps up to support cancer patients

This year, Kenny Ross Subaru has partnered with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) and Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Hempfield thru Subaru Loves to Care initiative. The partnership has involved delivery of blankets and messages of HOPE to cancer patients. This summer, Subaru personally delivered these items for patients in treatment.

Community Rallies for Kids Bike Safety

Several local organizations joined forces to help keep kids safe while riding their bikes this summer. Kenny Ross Subaru partnered with North Huntingdon Township Police Department to host our first bike safety rodeo. After registering for the event each child went through a course that comprised of five different stations. The stations consisted of ways to react to different situations including learning to avoid items in the middle of a path, scanning to look behind you for cars, and how to merge onto the road out of your driveway. When completed they had the opportunity to enter a drawing to win 1 of 2 bikes with helmets, provided by North Huntingdon Walmart and other gear donated by Borah Teamwear. Pro Bike+ Run was on hand to ensure the bikes were in good working condition as well as proper helmet fit. There was also a photo booth set up for participants to take pictures to commemorate the day. Friends of Norwin Trail volunteered their time to help with a couple of stations and the Lunch Lady on Wheels was there to make sure no one was hungry. Several families commented on how much fun their kids had and that, as parents, they appreciated us providing this event for our community. We can't wait till next year's Bike Safety Rodeo. Appreciating Nature and the Trail

The Westmoreland Yough Trail Chapter’s (WYTC) annual Trail Appreciation Day was brimming with sunshine, happy faces, and the beauty of the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP)! Kenny Ross Subaru was thrilled to be a part of the festivities in West Newton. The community came together to celebrate this beloved local treasure. Folks of all ages enjoyed delicious food and drinks, all while exploring the GAP on foot or bike. It was a fantastic day to get some exercise, breathe in the fresh air, and connect with fellow outdoor enthusiasts. Feeling the GAP love? There were tons of ways to show it! Inspiring Minds at Career Discovery Day

At Kenny Ross Subaru, we’re passionate about our community, and that includes its future! That’s why we were thrilled to team up with Pheple Federal Credit Union for their Annual 5th Grade Career Discovery Day. This incredible event brought together over 350 students from 6 local elementary schools at Westmoreland County Community College, and guess what? Kenny Ross Subaru was there to ignite their spark for the future! Imagine a room buzzing with curiosity, filled with hundreds of eager young minds. Now, picture over 20 different stations, each showcasing a unique and exciting career path – from the artistry of cosmetology to the technical mastery of welding. Keeping the Trail Beautiful

At Kenny Ross Subaru, we’re all about giving back to the community we love. That’s why several times a year, our dedicated employees lace up their boots and volunteer their time with the Westmoreland Yough Trail Chapter (WYTC) of the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP). In the past, we’ve helped with tasks like trimming trees and keeping the trail clear of debris. This year, our team tackled a fresh coat of paint on the new fence at the King Trail Head in West Newton. The WYTC is powered by an incredible group of volunteers known as the “Over the Hill Gang.” These folks tirelessly maintain the trail, ensuring a beautiful and welcoming experience for both locals and visitors exploring the GAP. Speaking of exploring, the King Trail Head has a fun surprise for history buffs: an old train car you can climb into! Plus, there’s a handy gift shop and restrooms nearby for your convenience. Want to learn more about the WYTC? Maybe you’re interested in volunteering or attending an event? Head over to their website at bikewytc.org for all the details. Here at Kenny Ross Subaru, we’re proud to support the WYTC and their mission of keeping the GAP a treasured community asset. We encourage everyone to get out and enjoy this scenic trail – it’s a wonderful way to spend a day!

Electronics Recycling Event

Remember that time you unearthed a box of 80s tech wonders while cleaning out the garage? We do! Kenny Ross Subaru’s first electronics recycling event last November was a treasure trove of electronics from yesteryear – TVs, radios, computers, even VCRs! The response was so overwhelming, we actually had to close down early because we ran out of space! (Sorry for any inconvenience!) It took two Subaru SUVs, a trailer, and two work vans to make two trips to Westmoreland Cleanways and Recycling to process everything. Here’s the best part: recycling electronics with us is completely free, unless the item is disassembled or smashed. In that case, there’s a small $25 fee to cover safe handling. Looking to declutter and dispose of your electronics responsibly? Our friends at Westmoreland Cleanways and Recycling are open to the public! Head over to their website (https://www.westmorelandcleanways.org/) or call them at (724) 879-4020 for hours and more info. And for all things Subaru and our commitment to environmental responsibility, check out the Kenny Ross Subaru Love Promise. Want to be the first to know about future Kenny Ross Subaru events? Earth Day Clean-up

As part of our commitment to Subaru Loves the Earth, Kenny Ross Subaru partnered with other local retailers to volunteer their time to take part in a day filled with nature and service in honor of Earth Day. At Bear Run Nature Reserve, our group of 36 volunteers showed up to work hand in hand to clean and rebuild areas of their hiking trails that were washed out from the extra rain we’ve had this year. Our two groups were led by Stone Alexander (Land Stewardship Coordinator) and Zach Zelazny (Land Steward) of the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy. They work to protect and restore our region’s clean water, healthy forests, wildlife and natural areas for the benefit of present and future generations. When asked his thoughts on different Volunteer efforts Stone stated that “I think that volunteer events are incredibly important because it not only supports your local/regional conservation organization in protecting some incredible properties that are open to the public, but it also gives visitors some insight into what goes into managing and caring for properties like Bear Run.” While it was hard work, it was a humbling and rewarding experience. It really puts a simple trail hike or walking your dog in the woods into a different perspective. The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy hosts different events throughout the year. To support their efforts, sign up for their Newsletter and learn more about what they do visit https://waterlandlife.org/. To volunteer your time or sign up for a group event contact Stone Alexander at [email protected].

Kenny Ross Subaru Share the Love with NAMOW

Subaru is the largest automotive donor to the nationwide Meals On Wheels program, with that being just one of the four nationwide charities that benefit from Subaru's annual Share The Love event. However, not only are national charities benefiting, but local hometown charities as well. Thanks to all of our customers who bought a car at the end of 2023, you were able to help us donate over $29,000 to our local Norwin Area Meals On Wheels program! Kenny Ross Subaru has been partnered with NAMOW since 2018, both volunteering to deliver meals as well as providing monetary donations. Over the past several years, we're proud to say we've helped lower the price per meal for the residents in the program and will continue to support this wonderful organization for many years to come! Helping to Feed Families in Need This Easter

For nearly 18,000 individuals and families facing food insecurity throughout Westmoreland County, PA, St. Agnes Church in N. Huntingdon works with the Westmoreland County Food Bank to provide a valuable resource in the fight against hunger. The Westmoreland Food Bank and St. Agnes Church are part of the network of 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries nationwide known as Feeding America. To continue the efforts of Subaru Loves to Help and giving back to the local community, the Kenny Ross stores in Irwin hosted a food drive to help stock the food pantry at St. Agnes Church. Our food collection ran for two weeks, with employees, employees’ families, and customers all bringing in donations to support those in need. Everything was delivered to the church on March 7th so that families could have food in time for their Easter dinners at the end of the month. They were very grateful for the contribution and appreciate the support of Kenny Ross and everyone in the community who helped make the donation possible. We are always looking for new ways to give back to our community, so if you have any ideas or know an organization that may need help, please contact our Event Coordinator, Nicole Hayes, via email ([email protected]) or phone (724-871-7679).

The Easter Bunny hopped into Kenny Ross Subaru

Members of our community came in with their pets to get their pictures taken with the Easter Bunny. The proceeds from this fundraiser were donated to Cross Your Paws Rescue. Kenny Ross Subaru gave away pet items- what’s better than some swag for your pup? Puppy Paws Cafe was also selling their delicious and adorable dog treats for Easter. If you’d like to take a look at their selection, visit them at puppypawscafe.com! Cross Your Paws Animal Rescue is a 100% volunteer-run 501(c)(3), foster-based humane animal rescue and transport organization based in Greensburg, PA. Keeping Those in Need Warm this Season

The winter weather has hit southwestern Pennsylvania and that means freezing temperatures and wind chill. Kenny Ross Auto and John Sisson retailers wanted to do their part to help those experiencing homelessness in the Pittsburgh area. For the second year, we partnered with Light of Life Mission to collect warm clothes for them to distribute to those who need them. Donations were accepted at all of our stores and we loaded up a van and took them to their facility at 655 Ridge Road in Pittsburgh. Light of Life Rescue Mission provides food, shelter, and hope to men, women, and children experiencing homelessness. What started as a soup kitchen in 1952 has turned into so much more for our community. They have expanded their services to include emergency services (shelter, laundry, showers, mental health services, etc.), food pantry, and long-term programming to help those people with their recovery. Some people have gone through the recovery program and are now working at the mission in the kitchen. The volunteers at Light Of Life Rescue Mission were so grateful and overwhelmed at the amount of clothes that were donated. All of the items will be given, not only to their residents, but to other shelters as well, and anything that isn't in good enough shape to be worn again will be recycled and made into cleaning rags or insulation for houses! If you would like to volunteer or donate to this life-changing organization visit www.lightoflife.org.

Helping to Spread Cheer

Imagine never celebrating a birthday- no cake, no presents, no friends. Many children experience this every year and that’s where Beverly’s Birthdays comes in. They are a non-profit that supports other organizations by bringing the party to them. Several times a month Beverly’s Birthdays throws parties and invites those kids for cake, pizza, games, and presents. This month Kenny Ross Subaru was invited to attend a party and we brought the gifts. Through the Subaru Loves to Help campaign Subaru has partnered with Operation Warm to provide coats this year. Starting with just one party in 2012, they now have several other divisions and programs including Birthday Cheer Bins, the Birthday Boutique, Classroom Cheer, and Beverly’s Babies. Through Beverly’s Babies, they provide community baby showers and newborn care kits with diapers. They are the first baby formula bank in the Pittsburgh area. Sharing the Love with Norwin Area Meals on Wheels

We had the opportunity to join the many Norwin Area Meals on Wheels volunteers for their annual Christmas luncheon. It was a great way to celebrate the end of their 25th year of providing hot, nutritious meals to people in our local community. The volunteers brought their favorite dishes to share and we played a Christmas Carol game. Sharing our favorite things about volunteering with Norwin Area Meals on Wheels was a highlight of the afternoon. As representatives of Kenny Ross Subaru, we explained our Subaru Share the Love Event that is running now until January 2nd. We will donate $150 for every Subaru purchased or leased to our Hometown Charity, Norwin Area Meals on Wheels. You will also get to choose a non-profit organization to which we will donate $250. Are you bringing in your Subaru for service? For every Subaru vehicle routine service during our Share the Love event, Kenny Ross Subaru will donate $5 to our Hometown Charity. For more information about supporting Norwin Area Meals on Wheels through volunteering your time or monetary donations please visit their website at http://www.norwinareamow.org/

A Helping Hand During the Holidays

Any time of the year it can be difficult to make ends meet but it can be especially hard during Christmas. For hard-working people who want to make this time of year magical for their loved ones, just one unexpected event can make you wonder how it will all come together. One local business decided to help some families fulfill their holiday wishes and keep the spirit of the season alive. Fox’s Pizza Den in North Huntingdon posted on their social media that they wanted to help some families in need and asked if anyone would like to pitch in to support their efforts. This is when Kenny Ross Subaru stepped in. Our Inventory Manager, Jessica Gesmond saw the post and thought it would be the perfect way to help a member of our community. She shared the post with Jimmy Lokar, our General Manager and he decided this would be a great way to support a local family and spread some holiday cheer. The family that we were able to help is a single mother with 2 daughters, ages 12 & 15. Since one of her parents passed away, the mom had to miss work and life became a little harder for her and her family. She’s been working two jobs to support her girls and pay her bills. Jessica summed up our feelings when she said “Knowing you’re helping a family in need always makes my heart feel warm, especially around the holiday season.”

America Recycles Day

America Recycles Day America Recycles Day was on Wednesday Nov 15th and at Kenny Ross Subaru we decided to participate by hosting a recycling event. We partnered with Westmoreland Cleanways and Recycling to collect hard-to-recycle electronics. Members of our community cleaned out their houses, garages, and storage units to bring TVs, computers, DVD players, and so much more to our event. We had to make several trips to get everything to the recycling center the next day. America Recycles Day, also known as National Recycling Day, is an initiative of Keep of America Beautiful that promotes and celebrates recycling in the United States. Keep America Beautiful encourages people to reduce, reuse, recycle, and repurpose every day. In 1994, 2 employees of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality suggested the idea to the National Recycling Coalition. Westmoreland Cleanways and Recycling is open to the general public for disposing of their recycling. Please check their website for hours of operation and information about what and how to recycle. https://www.westmorelandcleanways.org/ To learn more about America Recycles Day follow this link: https://kab.org/our-signature-programs/america-recycles-day/ #KennyRossSubaruLovestheEarth #Subarulovestheearth #westmorelandcleanways #americarecyclesday

Make a Dogs Day

Thank you to everyone who came out for our Make A Dog's Day/Subaru Loves Pets event last night and to Cross Your Paws Rescue & Puppy Paws Café for being a part of it! It was a huge success and tons of applications were put in for the adorable puppies that were brought. And we loved seeing your dogs dressed up in their Halloween costumes!🐶👻🎃 We also wanted to send a big THANK YOU to RedPrint LLC for our Make A Dog's Day t-shirts! Their dog was adopted from Cross Your Paws so they wanted to contribute to our event by donating the shirts. If you need any screen printing done, give them a call, they do a great job! National Make A Dog's Day was created by Subaru to encourage all dog lovers to do something special for their dog(s) as well as encourage people to consider adopting an underdog. So take a look at your local rescues to see the dogs that are looking for their 'furever' homes and do something special for your dog(s)! #kennyrosssubaru #makeadogsday #subarulovespets #adoptdontshop #crossyourpaws #adoptanunderdog

Celebrating 25 Years of Warm Meals

Norwin Area Meals on Wheels celebrated 25 years of delivering warm meals to North Huntingdon residents. It was a wonderful evening to celebrate all the people who support NAMOW. It was also a fundraiser to help them continue their efforts in our community. Kenny Ross Subaru has proudly been their biggest supporter for the past several years. At this 25th Anniversary Celebration, we presented a donation on behalf of Subaru’s Love Promise program. NAMOW cooked and delivered their first meals on Nov 2, 1998. They have grown so much over the years that they now have over 130 participants. These hot and nutritious meals are prepared and delivered Monday through Friday, except for holidays to those community members who are unable to cook for themselves. Not all participants receive meals every day, they decide what works best for them. Not only does Kenny Ross support NAMOW with financial contributions, we also volunteer by delivering meals twice a month. We enjoy being able to bring a smile to the recipients’ faces, help get their mail, or just be there to listen to a joke. This wonderful organization is always looking for volunteers to prepare and deliver meals. Please visit their website for more information. http://www.norwinareamow.org/

Going Above And Beyond

This past Saturday, November 18th, the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank held a food distribution event at McKeesport High School where volunteers gave pre-packaged boxes of food to people in need, including frozen turkeys and fresh vegetables. Volunteers from all over showed up to help, including a few of our managers from Kenny Ross Subaru! They saw nearly double the amount of people this time compared to past food distributions and were able to feed nearly every car that came through before running out of food. There was one woman in particular who stood out amongst the rest, though. While waiting in line for food, Barbara’s car broke down. She couldn’t get it started again and was concerned that she would miss her turn in line. Thankfully, Jim Hoffman, SOA District Parts & Service Manager, and Howard Boughter, service manager at Kenny Ross Subaru, were there to help her out. They were able to find jumper cables to get her car started again, and while talking with her, they learned that she was retired and that her husband had recently passed away, and she was so worried about missing her spot in line because the food was a huge help to her. Luckily, they were able to get her her box of food and even went a step further. Howard called into the shop to arrange to have a brand-new battery installed in Barbara’s car at no charge to her. After receiving her food, Howard gave her directions to Kenny Ross Subaru, told her to see the service advisor, Bryan, and that he would get her taken care of. She couldn’t thank him enough! She said she wasn’t sure how she would’ve afforded a new battery for her car and was more than grateful for all of their help!

Supporting Seniors in our Community

Norwin Area Meals on Wheels® is celebrating their 25th Anniversary this year. They have been in operation since 1998 and Kenny Ross Subaru has proudly been their biggest supporter for the past several years! In September NAMOW asks for community members to help deliver meals during their Guest Deliverer program. We had the privilege of taking over all 6 routes to deliver warm meals to local area residents as part of this program. Meals on Wheels prepares and delivers hot, nutritious meals, Monday through Friday, to Norwin residents who are unable to cook for themselves. Our employees volunteer twice a month to help deliver these meals. We always enjoy being able to bring a smile to the residents' faces, help get their mail for them, or just be there to listen to their favorite joke! To continue the work that they do, Norwin Area Meals on Wheels is doing a donation drive. The purpose of raising funds is to keep the cost down for the clients. Currently, the cost to recipients is only $5 per meal, which is about 40% below the cost of making them.

Kenny Ross Subaru and the WYTC Bike Trail Poker Run

We are the Westmoreland Yough Trail Chapter of the Great Allegheny Passage. Our group of volunteers maintain 11 miles of the bike trail that goes from Pittsburgh to Washington D.C. Kenny Ross Subaru has been a super support of our trail. Their employees have come to help out with maintenance on the trail and do a terrific job. Most recently they came to our fund-raiser on Labor Day. It was called the Poker Run and included 4-mile walkers, and 12- or 20-mile bikers. Nicole Hayes from Kenny Ross came to our event. She brought a great looking Ascent to display and goodies, snacks and water for the attendees. We so much appreciate the time that Nicole and her son gave us on a holiday. Thank you Nicole and KR Subaru! You are the best.

Youth Police Academy

We had the privilege again this year of being the main sponsor for the North Huntingdon Police Department's Youth Police Academy. We are so proud to support such a great program. They are looking at ways to expand their programming for the coming years and we can't wait to support this organization in the future. The academy is structured much like a real police academy where the kids learn about crime scene investigations, marksmanship, water rescue, and K-9 operations, all while developing discipline, self-esteem, and teamwork. We were happy to be able to support the cadets and be there for their graduation ceremony.

Dog Days of Summer

It was the Dog Days of Summer at Kenny Ross Subaru! Once again we partnered with @ Cross Your Paws pet rescue. They brought several adoptable dogs to meet potential new families. Members of our community also brought donation items to help the rescue continue their work. CYP travels to Kentucky several times a month to save dogs and then their foster families work with them and care for them until they are ready to find their fur-ever homes. Please visit their website to see adoptable pets and their list of items they need. www.crossyourpaws.com

Kenny Ross Subaru Love to Care

We had the privilege of donating 500 blankets to the patients of the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center at the Arnold Palmer Pavilion in North Huntingdon. The blankets, provided through the Subaru Loves to Care® campaign, are super soft and fuzzy to keep patients warm during their treatments. They also fold up and zip into a pillow. Because Kenny Ross cares we wanted to take it a step further and hold our own in-house donation drive. Our employees and customers alike brought in tons of items for the patients such as, lip balm, hard candy and mints, lotion, warm socks and slippers, activity/ coloring books and so much more. We want them to know that they aren't alone in their battle, that we care, and just wanted to make their journey just a little bit more comfortable.

Discovery Days Career Fair

We were invited to participate in PHEPLE Federal Credit Union’s annual Discovery Days Career Fair. 18 local fifth grade classes participated by visiting several businesses to learn about a variety of careers. Kenny Ross Subaru’s salesperson, Vinnie Jandeski took a WRX GT to show the students and our marketing department Brittany Nelis and Nicole Hayes talked about how we put on events and do community outreach as well as budgeting and planning advertising. #SubaruLovesLearning

Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day

Several businesses across the country participate in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. This year, Kenny Ross Subaru decided to put together a program for their employees’ children. The day started with a tour of the store where employees spoke about what their job entails. Then the younger children colored car pictures and built cars out of paper. They also did a scavenger hunt to find recyclable items and disposed of them in their proper containers. Our older attendees helped with filing paperwork and did some career readiness, which included filling out job applications, writing resumes, and interviewing skills. We ended our day with the students shadowing their parents or another employee to get a taste of what it’s like to work at a Subaru dealership.

Subaru Earth Day Cleanup for WYTC Bike Trail

WYTC is the section of the Great Allegheny Passage in Westmoreland County. Kenny Ross Subaru has been a super support for our group. This past week, seven of their employees came to do cleanup work on the trail. They did an excellent job of cleaning up an area with overgrown pine trees. The WYTC group appreciates all Kenny Ross Subaru helps us as a sponsor and offering their employees to help our volunteers to make our trail a beautiful place to walk or bike, get relaxed and enjoy the scenery.

Kenny Ross Subaru Loves Pets

A very special visitor hopped into Kenny Ross Subaru! The Easter Bunny came with our friends from Cross Your Paws Rescue to take pet photos. Pet parents brought not only dogs and cats, but we also had a bunny get its picture taken! For a donation, pet parents could take home a photo of their furbabies with the Easter Bunny. Cross Your Paws also had shirts available for purchase and some families brought donations from their wish list, which can be found on their website. As part of our Subaru Loves Pets® campaign, Kenny Ross Subaru has partnered with Cross Your Paws Rescue for several events over the years, including fundraising and adoptions. Founded in 2018, Cross Your Paws is a 100% volunteer-run 501(c)(3), foster-based, humane animal rescue and transport organization based in Greensburg, PA. They rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home dogs of all ages, breeds, and medical needs.

Sock and Clothing Drive

Kenny Ross Subaru started off 2023 by helping those who need it most. In January, Kenny Ross Subaru partnered with the rest of the Kenny Ross organization and held a company-wide sock and coat drive for people less fortunate who may be experiencing homelessness. For the entire week of January 23rd, we collected donated coats of all shapes and sizes, new and gently worn, along with brand new, unused socks. We had several customers bring in donations of their own, but the Kenny Ross team themselves really stepped up by bringing in bags upon bags of coats until our boxes were overflowing. At the end of the week, all of the coats and socks were donated to the Light of Light Rescue Mission in Pittsburgh and they couldn't have been more grateful. To continue our efforts of helping out, we also kicked off the Subaru Loves to Help® campaign during the month of February with a continuation of the sock drive. Socks were specifically chosen because they are the most sought-after item among residents living in homeless shelters. After our donation to Light of Life Rescue Mission, we also donated an additional 500 pairs of socks to the Welcome Home Shelter in Greensburg. The residents were anxiously waiting as we pulled up and couldn't thank us enough as we were leaving. Socks are something most of us take for granted but if you're homeless, especially during the cold Pennsylvania months, socks are a luxury. Seeing the gratitude and smiles on people's faces made our efforts even more worthwhile and we're glad we were able to help!

Kenny Ross Subaru and Cross Your Paws Rescue 2022 Make a Dogs day!

Through our partnership with Kenny Ross Subaru, we hosted a virtual adoption event throughout the month of October and a donation drive on #NationalMakeADogsDay! We showcased dogs throughout the month and by the end of the event, Cross Your Paws Rescue and Kenny Ross Subaru helped over 75 dogs find their perfect, loving home. Thanks to Jenna from Kenny Ross Subaru, we were able to find Nicco his forever home. Hey All! Remember me! Nicco in case y’inz forgot but I’m told how is that possible once you meet me! Nicco had tough start to an unknown life as a puppy until the big blue van from Cross Your Paws stepped in to save me! Wow what a relief to get out of that loud noisy shelter. So my sister and I hitched a ride back to PA. She found her home quickly but mine took some time. I was scared- scared of kids - men - loud sounds- quick movements - pretty much everything; so I ended up in a new foster home with some really nice people and foster sister dogs that could give me the time and space I needed to trust again. Sure enough within a few weeks of consistency, training and meals everyday my personality began to shine and boy was it a personality! Couple weeks later I was ready to go to my forever home and guess what!! The kicker is my forever home is with a dad, mom and teenage brother that I love OH SO MUCH! All those things I was once fearful of and would let you know through my BIG bark have come and gone thanks to CROSS YOUR PAWS committing to showing me how to be a pup again! They didn’t give up on me and now I get to live a happy life with my new family who says I am just the best boy ever and will spoil him for a lifetime.

Subaru Make A Dog's Day 2022

Kenny Ross Subaru and Kenny Ross Ford South held a donation drive for Cross Your Paws Rescue on October 22, 2022 in support of National Make A Dog's Day. They collected hundreds of dollars of supplies for fostering families and also raised money for the rescue, all while advocating for shelter and rescue adoptions. The dealership's efforts continue to support the mission of Cross Your Paws Rescue in finding homes for all canines. #MakeADogsDay

Dog Adoption Day and Donations

On September 10th we had Cross Your Paws Rescue come out to Kenny Ross Subaru with puppies and two other adoptable older dogs. With this adoption and donation day, together we were able to have all of the puppies and both dogs, ADOPTED! Customers and employees graciously brought in items the Rescue needed such as dog food, puppy pads, toys, etc. We also offered photos with your dog to benefit the Rescue!

Subaru Loves Learning - Classroom Kit Donation

Subaru strives to be more than just a car manufacturer, or a car dealership, by volunteering and helping out in local communities, which is how Subaru’s “Love Promise” came to be. The five promises include Subaru Loves the Earth, Subaru Loves to Care, Subaru Loves to Help, Subaru Loves Learning, and Subaru Loves Pets. With it being back-to-school season, we kicked off August with Subaru’s “Loves Learning” promise, and Kenny Ross Subaru was proud to be able to help support that promise. We packed up several classroom kits to be donated to a local school in our area. Inside the boxes included various items, such as writing utensils, interactive toys, books, and cleaning supplies for the classrooms at Francis McClure Elementary School in White Oak, PA, along with a $400 gift card for other needed supplies throughout the year. We delivered everything to the school on Friday, August 19th, in time for kids to start back on Tuesday, August 23rd. Mrs. Lisa Miracle-Volpe, the principal for Francis McClure Elementary School, was both surprised and overwhelmed with joy over the donation, and couldn’t have been more appreciative. We were happy to see her excitement, and were proud to be able to help support Subaru’s “Loves Learning” promise. On behalf of Kenny Ross Subaru, we would like to wish all students a happy and healthy school year! If you would like to volunteer or donate for any of Kenny Ross Subaru’s “Love Promise” events, please contact Brittany Nelis ([email protected]) and Jenna Honse ([email protected]) at Kenny Ross Subaru in N. Huntingdon, PA.

Kenny Ross & John Sisson Charity Softball Game

Kenny Ross is always looking for ways to help out in our community, and we were able to do just that this past month, August of 2022, while having a lot of fun at the same time! Kenny Ross teamed up with our sister company, John Sisson Motors, and participated in a charity softball tournament on Sunday, August 14th at the Washington Wild Things stadium in Washington, PA. During July and the first two weeks of August, we reached out to our vendors and local businesses, along with family members and friends, asking for donations for Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Being our first year, we weren’t sure exactly how much money we would be able to raise, estimating between $1000-2000. As donations started pouring in, though, our goal quickly became $5000. However, thanks to the generous support of our own employees, as well as our vendors and local businesses, we bypassed our goal and were able to raise over $7000 by game day! In fact, our grand total that was donated to Children’s Hospital was $7376! That money will help support the Free Care Fund, which ensures that over 30,000 children a year can receive world class healthcare regardless of their families’ ability to pay or their insurance status. It felt AMAZING knowing that we are helping out children and families in need around each of our neighborhoods. Thank you to Teresa, from Children’s Hospital, for coming out for the check presentation, and thank you to all of the family members, friends, and spectators who donated and that came out to watch and support us! Even though the Subaru team lost, everyone still had a lot of fun and we are already looking forward to next year’s game. Thank you to all of the Kenny Ross and John Sisson employees who helped make this possible, as well as our owners for giving us the chance to play at such a beautiful field. Another Thank You to all of the companies that sponsored this event, we wouldn’t have been so successful without you! Mountain State Auto Auction, Cleaveland/Price Inc, Flynn’s Tire, Metal Menders, 1st Call Plumbing, Franjo Construction, Lenhart’s Service Center, CAS Services, Laffoon Chiropractic, Salon Amara, Hills Glass Express, North Irwin VFD, J&S Roadside, Norwin Chamber of Commerce, WPXI, Car Wash World Express, Pittsburgh Pro Car Care, Rodney’s, Johnathan Michael’s Boutique, Eat N’ Park, Palarino’s Steel City Car Wash, John Sisson Mercedes Benz, Sam’s Club, Giant Eagle, and the Washington Wild Things.

Back to School - Backpack and Clothing Drive

On July 30th 2022, here at our dealership we hosted a Back 2 School Backpack and Clothing Drive! For every backpack we received, we put a book or two inside of it, for it to get donated to a child in need. We also had left over books we gave to The Salvation Army as well, when they came to pick up all of the items!

Kenny Ross Subaru teams up with the North Huntingdon Police Department

During this day in age, it can be a difficult time for law enforcement and police officers, with the headlines in the news, people wanting to defund them, and so forth. However, they risk their lives every day to protect us and keep our communities safe, and Kenny Ross Subaru is proud of our ongoing support for our local police departments. We had the pleasure of, not only sponsoring, but also being a part of the North Huntingdon Police Department’s second annual Youth Police Academy! The weeklong event was held at Oak Hollow Park from Monday, June 13th through Friday, June 17th 2022. Participants consisted of 30 young cadets, ranging in age from 11 to 15, who have goals of one day working in law enforcement or public safety. At the beginning of the week, they endured physical training and fitness and learned about the local fire departments and how everyone coordinates during emergencies. Later in the week, they continued their training by practicing water rescue on the Yough River with the N. Huntingdon EMS water rescue team and learned firearm safety and handling. They also learned investigative skills, such as processing a crime scene and were able to fingerprint our volunteers as if they were processing suspected criminals! At the end of the week, friends and family were invited to a graduation ceremony for all of the cadets. We had the privilege of handing them their certificates and congratulating them for their hard work and dedication. Congratulations to all of the cadets! You did a great job during your week of training, and on behalf of Kenny Ross Subaru, we want to say Thank You for wanting to protect our city!

Norwin Grad - Brett Frischolz, Memorial Golf Outing

"Thank you to Kenny Ross so much for the sponsorship and chance at a car. We had a golfer get within about 12” of winning the car!!! Closest we have had anyone in years. We ended up with 137 golfers and a total of 170 people including volunteers at the course. Could not have asked for better weather and it was a perfect sunny day out as we finished up. We already have the event on the calendar for 2023. Would love to have Kenny Ross on board again next year. Our family can not thank you enough for the support this year with the Hole in one Car sponsorship. It was a worry free process and you all knocked it out of the park, taking care of everything for us!! Thanks so much we really appreciate the support. It is the support of the businesses in the community and people like you that have allowed us to do this for over a decade." -Jamie and Stacie Frischolz

A Great Big THANK YOU! For the Trail help

"On Wednesday May 25th 2022, I had the pleasure of working with your volunteers on the Great Allegheny Passage near West Newton. For several years our volunteer group, the Westmoreland Yough Trail Chapter, planned to trim a group of pine trees in a grassy area along the trail. We never seemed to get to it. When I heard that Kenny Ross Subaru was willing to send a crew of volunteers to work on the trail, that tree project went to the top of my list as something your employees could help with. I had two of our experienced sawyers cutting the limbs and your six-lady crew stacking them on a trailer and helping me unload them in an area about a half mile from the work site. The attached photos, taken by WYTC President Connie Petras. Aside from Jenna, who Connie Petras and I coordinated with on this project, I'm sorry to say that I did not get the names of the other five women volunteers, but you must be proud of having such hard working, personable, and engaging employees. With them on your staff, Kenny Ross Subaru should thrive!" -Bob Hand , Member: Over the HIll Gang Maintenance Crew

Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank Drive

On Saturday, May 14th 2022, we were fortunate to be able to participate in the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank Drive. We had six employees/Volunteers from Kenny Ross Subaru. We helped to load boxes of pre-packed food into people's cars. There were over 300 cars there! It was a nice experience. When the cars pulled up, we had to see if they had a number 1, 2, or 3 on their window, as well as a Senior tag. Those tags helped us determine how many boxes of food the cars got. There were boxes of dry goods, frozen goods, and non-perishables. Each car got at least one box of each. The people were very grateful, as were we to help them out. The weather was great, warm and sunny!

Earth Day Trail Cleanup!

We had seven volunteers on Wednesday April 27th to help us clean up trash from the B-Y Park in Trafford PA and surrounding trails. We got 4 big bags of trash picked up! Cleaning and keeping the Earth healthy is very important!

Subaru Takeover: Norwin Area Meals on Wheels

Every month, the Kenny Ross Subaru team comes to the aid of Norwin Area Meals on Wheels by covering one of the delivery routes. Notable, Route 4- the longest route on the list. The dealerships sends a couple of volunteers to delivery hot and cold meals in a Subaru vehicle and spend some quality time with residents of the community. The month of March 2022 was a bit different. Kenny Ross Subaru did not send their usual 2 volunteers for the day, instead, they sent a team of TWENTY! More than a dozen dealership employees and 8 Subaru regional executives gathered at Norwin Area Meals on Wheels to takeover the delivery schedule, covering all 6 routes and handing out more than 60 hot meals. The manpower allowed the organization to reallocate their volunteers to otherwise short staffed days and assisted the mission of making sure every customer was fed.

Subaru Surprise

I recently visited Kenny Ross Subaru to look for a new vehicle. Wow, was I blown away by the customer service experience! From by salesmen Josh and John, to finance and the managers -- the entire process was so easy and so enjoyable. When we were finishing up for the day, I was blessed with a Subaru surprise. A quick conversation about biking and being outdoors turned into a BRAND NEW DYNACRAFT BIKE! The team at Kenny Ross Subaru gifted me a brand new bike for my outdoor adventures, I couldn't be happier!

ChocoLOTTA Love for Employees

Little things can really make a big difference! Full disclosure: I work here! We do a lot of things for the community here at Kenny Ross Subaru, and as employees, we are presented with a lot of opportunities to get involved. It really makes us feel good when we give back or help to facilitate a community event. What feels even better? When the company shows their appreciation of us. The dealership celebrated National Chocolate Cake Day on January 27th with SO MUCH CHOCOLATE CAKE! We had dozens of cupcakes for both our customers and our staff. Big cupcakes, little cupcakes, whatever your heart desires cupcakes- all chocolate and all a surprise. It wasn't a huge gesture by any means, it was simple (although delicious) chocolate cake, but it did make a huge difference. The dealership showed their appreciation for us with a little surprise that really brightened everyone's day.

Toys for Tots fills the Showroom

The team at Kenny Ross Subaru sourced more than 90 new, unwrapped toy donations for the 2021 Westmoreland County Toys for Tots collection. The campaign provides Christmas toy donations for qualifying children age newborn - 12. The company provided a monetary match for all funds raised, helping to double the donation!

Santa Paws visits Kenny Ross Subaru

Kenny Ross Subaru, alongside with Cross Your Paws Rescue, recently hosted an afternoon with Santa Paws. Customers and employees were encouraged to bring their four (and two!) legged friends to the showroom for a photo op with Santa Paws. Participants were given a polaroid photo and a holiday frame ornament.

ThanksGIFTING with Norwin Area Meals on Wheels

In continuance of Kenny Ross tradition, Kenny Ross Subaru employees were offered a gift from the company in celebration of Thanksgiving. From turkeys to gift cards, the company works to ensure every employee has an enjoyable holiday (and a full tummy!) This year, however, was a bit different. For 2021, employees were offered the choice of a holiday gift card or the chance to make a difference. If elected, an employee could donate the value of their gift card to Norwin Area Meals on Wheels and have the amount matched by the company. With outpouring support and kind hearts, Kenny Ross Subaru employees were joined by employees at neighboring locations to present Norwin Area Meals on Wheels with a $3450 holiday donation. The gift was presenting to the organization at their annual holiday luncheon and was met with grateful hearts and joyful tears.

Make A Dog's Day 2021

Kenny Ross Subaru held a donation drive for Cross Your Paws Rescue on October 22, 2021 in support of National Make A Dog's Day. They collected hundreds of dollars of supplies for fostering families and also raised more than $500 for the rescue, all while advocating for shelter and rescue adoptions. Donors were provided with a commemorative tshirt. The dealership's efforts continue to support the mission of Cross Your Paws Rescue in finding homes for all canines. #MakeADogsDay

Kenny Ross Fuels Poker Run Participants- McKayla G

This past Monday, September 6th, was the West Newton Trails Labor Day Poker Run! My co – worker, Serena Martinez and I took upon the opportunity to volunteer on behalf of Kenny Ross and show our support to all those who participated. We went prepared with snacks and water to hand out whenever the participants finished the event, it was a non-competitive 12-mile bike ride, 20-mile bike ride, or the optional 4-mile walk, jog, or wheelchair option. The objective is to go at your own pace and collect playing cards at each check point along the trail, at the end of each event, the poker cards were tallied and the person with the best hand in each category won a prize! It was such a fun experience participating and seeing so many familiar faces thought the day, from Subaru customers, to fellow trail volunteers. It’s always a pleasure to get to work with Keith and his team on the trail!

Newest Gold Corporate Sponsor Lends Helping Hands

Last year the Westmoreland Yough Trail Chapter of the Great Allegheny Passage lost a gold corporate sponsor. The chapter also lost all its fund raisers due to the pandemic. This was at a time when the trail probably had its greatest number of users. Despite the loss of funds, there was still about twelve miles of trail to maintain which included purchasing new equipment, maintaining and fueling the equipment, and finding new replacement workers. Some area chapters may have more populated and affluent communities to help them, but our chapter will take our dedicated trail members and fantastic corporate sponsors any day of the week. For example, Kenny Ross Subaru became our new corporate sponsor and their financial contribution was more than welcomed. They also had their employees and family members spend a day last fall and this spring working on the trail. Kenny Ross also participated in our trail appreciation day by having employees hand out bottled water to trail users. But it doesn't end there. Kenny Ross Subaru intends to continue with their financial help, participate in our fund raising activities, and send work parties to help with trail maintenance. With the continued support of Kenny Ross Subaru, the Westmoreland Yough Trail Chapter of the Great Allegheny Passage will continue to be a safe, secure, and family friendly place to enjoy nature when walking and riding.

Support to Norwin Area Meals on Wheels

Kenny Ross Subaru dealership and their employees have provided assistance in our time of need. Before we received their help we were struggling to meet our goal of maintaining a $5.00 charge for our meals. Thanks to their financial support through the Share the Love campaign, Norwin Area Meals on Wheels has, over the past two years, been able to maintain the cost that we charge our meal recipients. Effective July 2021 we are now able to reduce this charge by 20%, resulting in a savings of up to $20.00 per month to those who receive meals daily. In addition to their financial support, Kenny Ross Subaru employees regularly volunteer delivering meals with a friendly smile and conversation to our recipients who often have no other visitors. Our partnership with Kenny Ross Subaru has benefited not only our organization but also the Norwin community. We are truly grateful for their continuing support.

Shop with a Cop

I was blessed to be contacted by Carly Painter at our local Kenny Ross Subaru dealership. She notified me that Kenny Ross is dedicated to helping out locally and inquired about our charity. She later told me that Kenny Ross would be willing to assist law enforcement take children of unfortunate circumstances shopping. Carly, the owner and other employees came to the store and not only did they help officers take children shopping, but they picked up the ENTIRE tab that day which was well over $10,000! That was 3 Christmases ago. It was truly a Christmas miracle for all of us!!! To this day we have continued with that partnership. I am impressed with the Kenny Ross Staff at how gracious they are with their time, how generous with their donations, and how dedicated they are to giving locally. Kenny Ross Subaru team members joined forces with supporters of the Great Allegheny Passage Bike Trail to remove trash and debris from the West Newton area of the trail. This was the first trail cleanup of the 2021 season, with dealership staff, family and friends collecting more than 75 pounds of trash.

Bataan Memorial March Donation

Each year, the Junior ROTC Unit at my high school hosts a Bataan Memorial March, an event which raises money for a veteran-centered charity while simultaneously memorializing those who walked in the Bataan Death March in 1942. This year, the charity we are donating to is called Mission 22, which focuses primarily on veteran mental health. For the second year in a row, the Subaru dealership close to our school has donated $300 to our cause. As the head cadet assigned to this event and with family in the service, I know how impactful and important any amount of money can be towards a cause such as this. Having local support for our event is a great thing, and is beyond appreciated every year.

Kenny Ross Cares about Kids at Christmas!

The McKeesport Agape Center collects and delivers food to neighbors in need. Often times those who need food the most lack access to traditional food banks because they do not own cars so they can't get to them. We are a 100% volunteer non-profit who focuses on fighting hunger. We began our work at the beginning of Covid 19 when even neighbors with cars became shut in due to health concerns with the virus. We deliver food to hundreds of families locally per week. This Christmas the McKeesport Agape Center is providing Christmas to 424 families. We are calling it "The BIG M.A.C. Christmas." Thank you to Kenny Ross Subaru for providing gift bags and wrapping paper for us this holiday season! We are very thankful for your giving spirit. Kelly Doyle, Executive Director The McKeesport Agape Center.

Saving Jeffery!

Jeffery is a 2 year old border collie that was brought in from Kentucky with an unknown past. He was brought in on transport and went direct to his adopter. His adopter was in love with him before she even met him. Unfortunately, shortly after arriving Jeffery collapsed on a walk and had to be rushed to the emergency vet. After a quick exam Jeffery was rushed to a specialist emergency vet where he had to stay overnight and was given an MRI in the morning. It was discovered that Jeffery had a spinal stroke. This could have been due to previous trauma to the spine that left a fragment floating around. He had lost the ability to walk and go to the bathroom on his own. Luckily, his adopter was dedicated and stuck through this tough time with Jeffery. She had only known this dog for a short 24 hours but did not waiver for a second at the challenge of supporting him through this and getting him back to walking and relieving himself. As a rescue a vet bill this large can be very daunting but with the support of Subaru, we didn’t have to think twice about doing everything we could to save this boy and give him his happily ever after. After seeking another specialist and a few weeks on in-home care Jeffery is making great progress and has been wagging his tail and happy to see his Mom throughout the whole process. Jeffery could not have found a better forever home! Within the next few weeks, he is expected to make a full recovery!

Kenny Ross cleans up Youghiogheny Bike Trail

The Kenny Ross Subaru Service team spent last Saturday afternoon cleaning up trash along the Youghiogheny Bike Trail. The 150-mile trail, part of the 333-mile Great Allegheny Passage, is maintained and promoted exclusively by volunteers belonging to a Trail Council or Chapter of the Regional Trail Corporation. With united effort, volunteers are responsible for keeping the trails in operable condition for runners, walkers and most notably cyclists. During the Kenny Ross cleanup, an estimated 200 pounds of trash was collected, from cans and bottles to furniture and clothing. An environmentally friendly activity, the afternoon also increased safety along the trail. Team members assisted with cleaning rock debris on the trail right of way, a product of recent heavy rains. Thanks to the efforts of the Kenny Ross Subaru Service team, and our youngest cleanup supervisor Ben, the Youghiogheny Bike Trail is clear of trash and safe for enjoyment for seasons to come!

Kenny Ross Aids Cancer Center for 4th Year

Through their fourth annual “Subaru Loves to Care” partnership with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), Kenny Ross Subaru recently made a heartwarming impact on local cancer patients and the dedicated nurses and medical professionals who care for them. Representatives from the dealership arrived at Arnold Palmer Medical Oncology at Norwin on July 8th with a goal of making an immediate, tangible impact for patients undergoing treatment. One unpleasant side effect of chemotherapy is that some patients constantly feel cold. To make their treatment more comfortable, Kenny Ross donated 80 cozy new blankets. In addition, the dealership gifted 30 arts and crafts kits filled with Crayola products meant for any children receiving treatment or who accompany their parents or family members to appointments. LLS owes a debt of gratitude to everyone at Subaru of America and Kenny Ross Subaru for making this program possible. Thank you for continuing to join LLS in our mission to cure blood cancers and to improve the lives of patients and their families throughout our local communities.

Kenny Ross Cares: Comforting Cancer Patients

Kenny Ross Subaru once again partnered with Arnold Palmer Medical Oncology to donate blankets and messages of hope to cancer patients undergoing treatment in the North Huntingdon/Irwin area. The team at Kenny Ross saw the need to make patients more comfortable during treatment, and worked together in conjunction with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) as part of the “Subaru Loves to Care” program this summer. The goal of Loves to Care is to help people live healthier lives. The staff at the Arnold Palmer center were excited to receive the 80 blankets, delivered with care by Kenny Ross Subaru General Manager Jimmy Dull. The blankets will be helpful because many patients get cold due to their condition or as a side effect of their medication. Arnold Palmer Medical Oncology is less than 15 minutes from the dealership, meaning that Kenny Ross was able to give this gift to their neighbors in their time of need. All of us at the Western PA & WV Chapter of LLS are extremely grateful to Kenny Ross Subaru and Subaru of America for partnering with us to spread love, hope, and warmth to cancer patients right here in our own hometowns.
