Kenny Ross Subaru Helps Drive Financial Literacy at Penn Trafford High School

The team at Kenny Ross Subaru was delighted to join Pheple FCU in supporting the recent Financial Reality Fair at Penn Trafford High School. This innovative program offered students a valuable real-world simulation of managing their finances.

Imagine being a high school student and suddenly having to make decisions about housing, transportation, and budgeting based on a future career! That’s exactly what the Financial Reality Fair presented. Students were challenged to consider various living arrangements (alone or with roommates), transportation options (buying a car – perhaps even a reliable Subaru down the line! – or using public transport), and then create a comprehensive budget covering everything from groceries to entertainment and even pet care.

The experience was incredibly hands-on. Students quickly learned that budgeting isn’t always easy. Those whose initial choices didn’t balance out had the opportunity to consult with a financial counselor and make adjustments – a crucial lesson in resource management and financial responsibility. They had to consider the trade-offs, like taking on a “second job” or rethinking their initial lifestyle choices.

At Kenny Ross Subaru, we understand that purchasing a vehicle is a significant financial decision. By participating in events like the Financial Reality Fair, we hope to contribute to the financial literacy of young people in our community. This program provided a fantastic eye-opening experience, giving students a tangible understanding of the financial landscape they will navigate in the future.
