New J.D. Power Initial Quality Study Is Out, with Subaru Scoring Above Average

According to the brand new J.D. Power 2023 Initial Quality Study (IQS), Subaru scores above average. Subaru has a brand-new vehicle picked among the top three automobiles in its segment.

J.D. Power asked owners 223 questions based on nine vehicle categories, infotainment, features, controls and displays, exterior, driving assistance, interior, powertrain, seats, driving experience, and climate control. The Subaru Forester scores a top ranking. Subaru scored one of its models in J.D. Powers’ exceptional three models per segment. The 2023 Subaru Forester is one of the top three models withinside the Compact SUV segment. Subaru’s ratings are up from previous years, while most automaker motors have become extra problematic. The new 2023 study says the decline in quality may be to more than one factor, such as : 

• More significant usage and penetration of technology
• Continued integration of known complex audio systems into other new models
•  Poor-sounding horns 
• Cup-holders that don’t serve the current purpose

“The industry is at a major crossroads, and each manufacturer’s path is paramount for its future. From persistent problems from years past to increased problems, today’s new vehicles are more complex, offering new and exciting technology, but not always satisfying owners,” said Frank Hanley, senior director of auto benchmarking at J.D. Power.

Scoring the Automaker’s Vehicles

The J.D. Power IQS study only considers the first 90 days of automobile ownership. J.D. Power looks at specialized infotainment and new technology with which new proprietors need to become better acquainted. The IQS is not a long-term study of quality problems with the automakers and their precise models.

Subaru scored 185/PP100 this year, up from 191/PP100 in 2022. Subaru is now above the industry average of 192/PP100. Subaru is now the seventh-ranked mainstream brand.

Subaru Forester

The latest Consumer Reports study recommends ten new models, and the 2023 Subaru Forester ranks as the maximum reliable and fuel-economical new SUV that can be purchased this year. Consumer Reports compiled the compact SUVs that scored nicely in their road assessments having average-or-higher anticipated reliability scores and getting 28 mpg overall or higher.

The 2023 Forester comes in six trim levels: 

• Base Forester starts at $27,620 (plus destination fee)
• Premium starts at $30,620 (plus destination fee)
• Sports trim starts at $32,190 (plus destination fee)
• Limited starts at $34,300 (plus destination fee)
• Wilderness trim begins at $35,245 (plus destination fee) 
• Touring starts at $37,720 ( plus destination fee)

The 2023 Subaru Forester is now ranked the best in the compact segment and the least problematic Subaru all-wheel-drive vehicle for consumers in the first 90 days of ownership. This new score shows how much Subaru has worked on making its vehicles the best for its customers.
