The Subaru Impreza 22B STi and its Modern Return

Many car connoisseurs vocalized their discomfort towards the all-new Subaru WRX and Acura’s Integra revival. But once the smoke cleared and the yelps turned to whispers, then came the prototype’s introduction. So fans took to the internet to express distress once again.

Many enthusiasts took to social media to express their good, bad, or ugly sentiments against the five-door liftback design.

A few weeks prior, some of the best Subaru devotees stood firm on their perspective of the second-generation 2022 Subaru WRX. The performance sedan mingled with critics treading insults directly from the mud, but from that darkness arose some phenomenal fertilizer for virtual automotive artists.

The Impreza 22B STi digital project is more innovative than Jim’s usual projects, but the concept radiates harmony. The visual redesign drew recognition to the renowned 1998 Subaru Impreza 22B STi. The prototype design conceals the WRX and delivers a traditional widebody coupe factor.

Of course, the prototype is all part of wishful thinking. Subaru may never bring the Impreza 22B STi to life, but Jim’s effort and attention to detail are greatly appreciated. But let’s be clear here round bumper lights are sublime on everything rocking the Subaru moniker, not to mention that full-body blue and sporty gold wheels.

The 2022 WRX carries the new 2.4-liter turbo flat-four bringing three more horses than the previous model that holds the outdated 2.0-liter and the same 5600 rpm—both the old and new WRXs torque peak 258 lb-ft. Performance specs may not seem different, but anyone denying the power and capability of the WRX is swimming in a river of denial.
