Travis Pastrana Aims for Florida, Jumps His Subaru GL Over a Bridge

Motorsport professional Travis Pastrana is at it again. The daredevil stuntman recently performed another stunt in his signature 1983 Subaru GL wagon. This time Pastrana took his skills to Marathon, Florida which is located in the heart of the Florida Keys. Ready with his Subaru GL, Pastrana was able to successfully jump a bridge to the amazement of fans out on the waters. This stunt was part of Pastrana’s Gymkhana film series which involves Pastrana completing stunts, timed trials, and more. We’ll take a look at Pastrana’s Subaru GL Wagon and see how it provides the daredevil with the ability to perform so many exciting stunts. 

Travis Pastrana Jumps a Bridge in the Florida Keys

After receiving a custom 1983 Subaru GL Wagon from Subaru and Hoonigan, Travis Pastrana has taken to filming more stunts for his film series Gymkhana. Having performed numerous stunts for the majority of his life, Pastrana has continued to defy the laws of physics with his extreme motorsports skills. Pastrana has competed in the X Games, driven NASCAR, and raced in RallyCross championships. Now, Pastrana is headed to Marathon, Florida which is located in the Florida Keys. There, with his 1983 Subaru GL Wagon, Pastrana managed to jump over a bridge with fans watching in amazement.

Subaru and Hoonigan partnered together to provide Pastrana with a custom Subaru GL Wagon. The Subaru features a turbocharged boxer four-cylinder engine that’s capable of 862 horsepower. It has been custom-made to provide Pastrana with enough power to complete his stunts. Power to the engine runs through a six-speed sequential gearbox and the differential is the same as Pastrana’s WRX STI that he used on Mount Washington. The suspension is also a World Rally Championship setup.

Pastrana’s Subaru GL Wagon also has a tubular spaceframe chassis with carbon fiber body panels. The custom-made wagon has aero elements at its corners and its rear spoiler can extend to create a wing that provides more downforce. Inside, the instrument cluster has been fitted with a retrofuturistic appearance mirroring the 1982 adventure franchise Knight Rider. With his 1983 Subaru GL Wagon, Pastrana will continue performing stunts for his Gymkhana series. We’ll have to stay tuned to hear about his next stunt, but it’s sure to be exhilarating.
