Travis Pastrana Zips, Flies, and Zooms Through Florida in Gymkhana Performance

Motorsport professional Travis Pastrana is back at it. This time the daredevil stuntman headed to the city of Ft Lauderdale, Florida, to perform daring stunts with his signature 1983 Subaru GL wagon. As a long-time partner with Subaru, Pastrana has had no issue showing off the power of the Subaru as well as his skills. For the latest Gymkhana, Pastrana once again defied gravity while showing off his expert driving skills. The 2022 Gymkhana video is titled “Travis Pastrana Goes Berserk in Florida,” and it is aptly named. We’ll take a piece-by-piece look at the 2022 Gymkhana event and detail the numerous stunts that Pastrana performed. 

2022 High-Performance Gymkhana Held in Florida

For the 2022 Gymkhana event, stuntman Travis Pastrana took to the city of Ft Lauderdale, Florida. While there, Pastrana showed off his ability as he zipped and zoomed through the streets of the Florida city in his signature 1983 Subaru GL wagon. This particular GL wagon is one of Pastrana’s favorites. Named The Family Huckster, the Subaru wagon has an 862 horsepower flat-four motor engine and a sequential six-speed gearbox. The wagon also features an active rear wing, a long-travel WRC-spec suspension, and a new differential package. To handle all the gravity-defying stunts, the drivetrain is packed inside a tubular spaceframe protected by carbon fiber body panels.

That’s enough about the GL wagon. On to the fun stuff. Travis Pastrana opens his 2022 Gymkhana short film with footage from one of his recent stunts where he base jumped out of a high-rise condo in downtown Ft Lauderdale. Unfortunately, his parachute malfunctioned, and he suffered serious injuries. Thanks to his resiliency, Pastrana makes a full recovery as the next scene shows Pastrana lying on the beach enjoying the lovely Florida weather. From there, the daredevil hops in his GL Wagon kicks up some sand and heads for his first stunt. 

Immediately, we see Pastrana deftly drifting as he prepares to grind his Gl wagon on a median guard rail. From there, Pastrana maneuvers through the downtown area, drifting around trees, a jetski, a parking garage, and even a monster truck (which is performing a nose grab). After kicking up smoke, Pastrana meets for a drag race in which he barrels down the street. Then, drifting a bit more for style, Pastrana takes to a straightaway, hitting a top speed of 165 mph as he jumps over a helicopter. Finally, Pastrana hits an airstrip and drifts around five monster trucks. He then hydroplanes through a large pit and skirts off to get picked up in a helicopter. Suffice it to say; it was undoubtedly one of Travis Pastrana’s best Gymkhana events ever.
