The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek is set to arrive soon. The next-generation compact SUV is expected to feature several new updates and changes that will provide it with even greater capability and versatility. As one of Subaru’s best-selling vehicles, the Crosstrek is a practical SUV that is both affordable and highly capable. While all the changes have not been made clear, we have learned that the next-generation Crosstrek will see improved performance and efficiency. Alongside the Subaru are the Outback and Impreza, which are expected to see new updates. In preparing its combustion engine lineup, the Japanese automaker has also been busy with its EV lineup. New Changes Expected For 2024 Subaru Crosstrek

The next-generation 2024 Subaru Crosstrek is expected to hit markets with several new changes. Currently, the Crosstrek is one of Subaru’s most popular vehicles. Subaru hopes these new updates and changes will allow the Crosstrek to remain a fan favorite and pull in new drivers looking for a highly capable SUV. While all the details have not been released, we do know that the 2024 Crosstrek will be offered with a front-wheel drive system. This is a huge surprise as many of Subaru’s vehicles use the automaker’s unique all-wheel drive system. However, the addition will allow the next-generation Crosstrek to see increased fuel efficiency. Subaru’s goal here seems to appeal to a broader audience of Japanese consumers. We’re not sure if this option will make its way to the United States, but it would certainly help those who use the compact SUV as a daily commuter. 

Another update to the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek is the addition of a new trim, the Touring. This trim will feature a continuously variable automatic transmission and pair with either all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive. We’re not sure what the new Touring trim will start at, but the trim will likely slot near the Limited trim. In addition to the new trim, it’s expected that Subaru will reduce the ground clearance of the Crosstrek to improve fuel efficiency further. Coming down from 8.7 inches to 7.9 inches will help the compact SUV see increased mileage. 

One more update consumers can expect to see with the next-generation Crosstrek is an improvement to the 2.5L engine. Currently, the 2.5 delivers 182 horsepower, but this is expected to increase slightly, giving owners increased performance. This will help offset the loss in capability due to the reduced ground clearance. Subaru is also planning on removing the manual transmission from the Crosstrek. The automaker has stated that it interferes with the EyeSight safety suite as such vehicles equipped with a manual gearbox cannot take full advantage of the safety system. Subaru’s goal is to have zero fatal accidents by 2030, so it is considering every option to improve safety. While all these changes may not seem favorable, Subaru aims to strengthen the Crosstrek in every way it can.
